Top 5 Teams LeBron Should Join If He Leaves

Image result for lebron james getty imagesThe Cavaliers future has changed drastically in the past 2 months. According to reports, LeBron is "unhappy" with the Cavs offseason moves, but then again, who is happy? We expected another high caliber star such as Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, or Jimmy Butler to be traded for, and they ended up letting go their general manager David Griffin and signed Jose Calderon. Oh, and God forbid I forget that they're in "serious talks" with signing Derrick Rose, an average at best player with terrible knees. What great moves by the Cavaliers to be able to compete with the Warriors next season, and I mean that with every ounce of sarcasm in my body. That being said, rumors are floating around that LeBron could jump ship and go to another team, preferably the Lakers. I wouldn't be mad if he left because honestly I don't blame him. There's little to no chance that the Cavs win the championship next year; they're nowhere near the level of greatness that the Warriors are on. It may be time to relocate somewhere else to play out the remainder of his career. Here are the 5 teams that would best suit King James. Keep in mind some of these aren't as realistic as other teams, but they would be the best fit.

5. Portland Trailblazers

Yes, this sounds far pitched and absurd, but is it really? More than likely, this won't happen. But just think about it. One of the best point guards in the league in Damian Lillard, who in my opinion, if you switched him with Steph Curry on the Warriors, there wouldn't be much change. When Damian is at his best, he is almost unstoppable. Then you have C.J. McCollum, who made 42% of his threes and is a very, very solid shooting guard. Jusuf Nurkic is an up and coming center and Al-Farouq Aminu and Maurice Harkless are solid role players. LeBron would have to play the same amount of, if not, more minutes he did this season since they have little to no playmakers on their bench. There's no doubt he would take this team to the finals, but at this point, all we can do is fantasise and hope for  this possibility.

4. Miami Heat

Imagine this: He leaves Cleveland for Miami, goes back to Cleveland, and then goes back to Miami? This would give Miami and Cleveland fans so much stress that those two cities would be gold mines for therapists. LeBron going back to Miami would be a nice move for LeBron. He would have a truly elite center for the first time in his career (before you go straight to the comments to argue "He played with Shaq are you kidding me?", Shaquille O'Neal averaged 12 points per game with LeBron. He was nowhere near elite in his tenure with the Cavs. And yes he played with Chris Bosh, but Bosh went between power forward and center. I'm talking about a player that's strictly a center.). He would have Goran Tragic, a better facilitator than Kyrie Irving. I am in no way saying Goran is better than Kyrie, because in no way is that true. I am saying that Dragic is a pass first point guard unlike Kyrie. Dion Waiters is a pretty solid player as well. This wouldn't be realistic at all unless they had acquired Gordon Hayward, but they didn't, so all you can do at this point is pray to the basketball gods that this happens.

3. San Antonio Spurs

If LeBron wants to crush the Warriors, this is the absolute team to go to. Put a top two player in the league on a very successful team. Sounds familiar huh? LeBron and the great coach in Greg Popovich have always been friends. Greg is one of the most underrated coaches of all time. People don't realize that he takes no name players and takes them to the Western Conference Finals in a very competitive conference. He has Kawhi Leonard to thank for some of that, but put any other coach on the Spurs and the results would be nowhere near the same. Teaming LeBron up with another top 5 player (sound familiar again?) would spell trouble for the Warriors and the rest of the league.

2. Philadelphia 76'ers

For the past few years, we've been told to "Trust The Process". The 76'ers drafted Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Markelle Fultz in the past 3 years, and only one of them has played in an NBA game? Joel Embiid missed his first two years to injury, and played 31 games last season, and he looked nothing short of spectacular. Now that they're all healthy, and they acquired a great role player like J.J. Redick, could LeBron James be the final piece to the "Process"? I think he should be. They have the cap space to sign him to a contract that he likes and he has a very good relationship with Ben Simmons, calling him his "lil bro" on Twitter. While LeBron most likely wants to go to a team that's already established, it would be very hard to pass this potential filled team up.

1. Los Angeles Lakers

This makes the most sense out of all of these, and it's very possible that this actually happens next season. When they drafted Lonzo Ball, this changed everything. He's the definition of a true point guard: he gets others involved while making his teammates around him better. He can even score if he wants to. Magic Johnson is calling this kid the face of the Los Angeles Lakers, that is, until LeBron comes. People want to play with Lonzo because he's unselfish and he has the passing gift that you can't teach no matter who your coach or trainer is. It is the most logical thing for him if he's thinking about his future. He has a home in LA, he said he wants to be involved in movies after he retires, and he wants to own a team in the future. Magic Johnson, the general manager of the Lakers, would give him advice for that. They have the cap space to sign him, and they could even attract another All-Star to play with him. I personally hope this move happens, because he needs to get as far away from Cleveland as possible.
